    moth – dave mckean

a very interesting piece of work. i’m not really sure how to go about it. what sticks out to me is the cyclic nature of the materials and the relationships between which results in some to and fro action. this is maybe why i am kind of confused. the receiver becomes a moth, concerning the repetitive and therefore redundant movements of the moth (generally speaking), when encountering this work (like the arm that transforms into moths within the work) or maybe it’s just me. overall i enjoy the kind of comic yet twisted nature. the composition is also quite aesthetically magnetic. i am actually drawn to the light.

    moth – darlene delbecq

a photograph from some of darlene’s all using the mirror effect which if you have a mac you may be familiar with yet not familiar with these sorts of results. so dreamy even the sports stuff. there’s a nice little write-up here.

    MOTH – hilton carter

this short film is flashy and not really moth-related as the title was used instead of ‘man on the hill’ but i can still see some relevance as i feel that light has been employed as a particularly useful device and we all know how moths do like the light especially in various art forms and literature.

    morning dramas

eventful side stories as morning getting ready was underway today. insects were having all sorts of troubles. while showering, a moth, which was altogether triangular and i think a geometrid, was hanging out and fell upside down on the side on the bath stuck with its legs in the air. so many moral dilemmas cycled through. i think if there was a rescue attempt i would have squished it to death and i couldn’t put it out of its misery. instead i left it to its own devices to find a weta stuck in the sink hole with its butt and barb sticking out. upon check it was alive. sorry but it was all too much and i had to go to class.
