a lovely moth inspired accessory for the autumn/winter season this year the colours and lines climatising the wearer into the colder months but also cheering them up because large moth prints couldn’t do otherwise. tacey’s website here.

moth knitted necklace – anna alicia

a lovely handmade and eco-friendly piece of alternative jewellery by london-based anna alicia. it takes the rough shape of the moth, makes it more playful via spirals and loops, and is created out of a material that the moth could potentially eat (depending on the species of moth) which is a nice thought. that the ecological/environmental/recycling concerns are adhered to in a graspably literal fashion – the moth can perpetuate itself in some form. also available in off-white. want to buy me a gift? here is the store.

into the light – kate sylvester

the summer 2011 collection and it’s about moths! and the speedway among other things. some prints do look suspiciously like butterflies but there is a healthy inclusion of the famed hawk moth and death moth. other than the obvious, shapes allude to the patterns on the wings of moths as well as the wings of moths and the toned down colours help us associate more with the more modest moth and not the showy butterfly setting a nice relaxed mood for the warmer months. so i can’t really talk fashion as you can tell but i want. check out the rest of the collection here.

OH MY GOD I used to have a costume that was totally just like this; it had golden shit along the trim of the wings and was gold/yellow fabric across them and it had a little hat that was kinda like a yarmulke but with antennae sticking out of it. Technically it was a butterfly costume by with suits that vague I’m not sure it really matters. If it is still at my ‘rents next time I visit I’m totally bringing it down for you.
